Today's TV has too many functions; liquid cristal display, thin body, plasma, ground digital, wide screen, and etc.  We often have requests of Tansu, which can be used as a TV cabinet, from our customers. Basically, Tansu we are dealing in our shop had been made in the old days when there was no TV, as you know.  So, regarding the TV or audio cabinet, we have had much difficulty to comply with the customer's request.  But we are happy to find this wide Tansu!!  This is the lower part of a big Merchant chest, called Goshaku Tansu.  You can put CDs, DVDs, codes, remote controle device, and whatever related to your TV set.  Just ideal! . . . . Now we only hope for the better improvement of Japanese TV programs, most of them are such vulgar and junk . . . Anyway, we would appreciate your inquiries about this great Tansu!!

液晶、薄型、プラズマ、地デジ・・・・・。　テレビにまつわる活字が色々と踊っていますよね。　大画面！！なんていうのも・・・・。　最近、当店にも「テレビを置く台が欲しい」、「収納するキャビネットがあればな～っ」　等々、様々な要望が寄せられます。

当店が扱うのはテレビなんてもちろん無い時代の箪笥、家具ですから探すといってもちょっと無理があります。私なりに解釈を広げ、コジツケでご提案しています。

つい最近こんな商品が入荷しました。

五尺の帳場箪笥、しかも下の部分だけ！

でもこれが結構使える。抽斗の中にDVDやCD（すでに古いか・・・・）　が収納出来て、その他雑然となりがちな小物類を全て飲み込む収納力　大型TVが乗ってもへこたれない頑丈な造り！！

これを使わない手はないでしょう

でも、私の個人的意見ですが・・・最近のTV番組、不況でスポンサーが付かないせいか、

低俗、軽薄なモノが多いですよね～（失礼）　個人的にはお笑い番組好きですが、朝から晩まで同じようなモノを垂れ流されてもね～。　

ハードが良くてもソフトに問題あり　ってとこでしょうか？

We could find many nice Tansu yesterday.  Some small chests, wide chest, twin chest, drawers with the family crest, set of 5 small chests.  For the other items: Inkstone box of beautiful grains, very tall (!) money box, gracious screen with gilded flower paintings, and etc.  Please wait for their photos to be loaded on our web-site soon!!

昨日も楽しい商品を探しにいってきました　いい感じの箪笥を今回は沢山仕入れることが出来ました。小さめの階段箪笥、欅の五尺帳場箪笥、二卵性双生児？の小箪笥（見れば納得！）、家紋入衣装箪笥（葵の御紋）、積み木のような小箪笥（五つ一組）、等々、その他、欅玉目の懸硯、欅の賽銭箱？（う～ん・・・うまく説明出来ない）、金箔の枕屏風（お花がいっぱい実に華やか）、　その他、いろいろ　順次仕上がり次第ご紹介して行きます。

We can find exquisite and luxurious houses of old days.  This is the photo of the house of the former Prime Minister, Korekiyo Takahashi(1854 - 1836.)  Glass was extremely expensive in old Japan, but here we find the corridor, all of the window panels are filled with glass.  We call this type, 'yura-yura glass' meaning flickering glasses.  This house was moved from Akasaka and reconstructed here in Tatemono-en. 昔の家やお店は凝った造りが多く見ることが出来ます。たとえば、高橋是清邸の廊下。　ガラスが貴重であったであろう時代、なんと全面に使用しています。今では懐かしい　通称ゆらゆらガラス。　赤坂にあった是清邸を移築保存しています。

This is a beautiful Shoji-window, the design adapted from the one in Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto.

こちらは、デザイン的にも美しく、機能的な障子窓。　いいな～っ　しゃれっ気があって。

This is the Stationery shop.  Amazingly well organized chests and drawers. Unlike us, it must have been easy to take inventory.  Please excuse my poor technique of photography.

こちらは文房具屋さん。整理整頓がしやすく、見やすい。棚卸もこれなら間違わないでしょう・・・・。（笑）　　画像が下手で申し訳ない

I went on the excursion to Tokyo Tatemono-en ( Edo Tokyo Open Air Architectual Museum) with friends, some of them were from foreign countries.  Fortunately, explanation about each building was given in English by the wonderful guides who worked there as volunteers. It was really a sweet pleasure for me to find many nostalgic buildings, which evoked my old memories of childhood.  It's a great place!  I would recommend you to go there!!

先日、お店を抜け出しお友達と東京郊外までちょっとお散歩にいってきました。目的地は　

「江戸東京たてもの園」　外国人の方々とご一緒。皆さん興味津々！　「この家、ずいぶん大きいけど何人住んでいたの？」

　「これはどうやって使うの？」　等々・・・・・。　英語が堪能なガイドさんもご一緒だったので私が質問攻めにあうことはありませんでした　どこかミョ～に懐かしい風景が沢山！　楽しいです！ココ！！

May 5th is Boy's Festival, a.k.a.Children's Day.  We displayed Yoroi and Kabuto ( Samurai armor and helmet)  this afternoon in our shop.  Originally the Boy's Fetival, 'Tango no Sekku,' was celebrated for the healthy growth and development of young men, exorcising evils and misfortunes. . . we hope then this great depression will get out of world!

雛祭が終わったと思ったらもうすぐ子供の日。　端午の節句ですね。お店でも目立つ所に飾ってみました。

鎧に兜。　それほど古いものではありませんが、なかなかどうしてイイ感じではないですか！

もともと端午の節句は、悪鬼や災厄を祓うのが目的。　不景気も追い払ってもらおうかな？

It is very fun to look at the old Edo ( old Tokyo) maps.  We can find the streets excactly same as those of today, or the areas totally different.  As for the Azabu area, it is easy to locate today's points in the old map. There were many manshions of feudal lords in Azabu area, and the town plan has not been chaged a lot.  Azabu-juban, Ichinohashi, Roppongi intersection, Zojo-ji Temple, etc., it is exciting to imagine the old days as we find the names and points familiar to us.  We put stickers to indicate the major points in Tokyo on the Big Edo Map in our shop.  If you are interestend in, please come and see it!!

古地図（江戸地図）を眺めていると結構楽しいですよ。　現在の地形（道路）がほとんど一緒だったり、まったく違っていたりと・・・・。　

私のお店がある麻布界隈はお屋敷が多かったせいか今でも地形の名残がありわかりやすかったりします。

麻布十番、一の橋、六本木交差点、増上寺あたりはよ～くわかります。　お店で販売している江戸地図には現在の位置がわかるように目印を張り付けています。皆さん興味津々　皆さんも一度ご来店の上ご覧ください。

先日、「浅草寺の場所が違うんじゃない？」　とアメリカ人の男性に指摘を受けました・・・・。　恥ずかしい・・・・

Today our store is close.  We have a full bloom of Sakura!!  We went for a walk through the young Sakura trees near the Izumi Garden in Roppongi  It was the lunch time in a mild spring day, there were many office workers, munching and chatting beneath the trees.  Then we went to change the items in our show-case at Hotel Okura.  And we had a tea break at Terrace Restaurant (http://www.okura.com/tokyo/restaurants/terrace.html.)  We found pretty Sakura in its garden, too.  It is a serene, relaxing spot amid of megalopolis.

今日はお店の定休日。桜も満開だし天気も良いので近所までお散歩してきました。六本木1丁目の泉ガーデンの桜の若木もだいぶ育ってきました。

この道からアークヒルズの立派な桜並木につながっています。ちょうどランチタイムでしたのでサラリーマン、OLさんがお弁当を片手に皆さん桜の下でのんびり休憩中。実にのどかな昼下がり。このあと、ホテルオークラのショーケースをディスプレーチェンジしホテル内のガーデンカフェで一休み

ここのお庭にも桜の木がありました。ビルに囲まれた小さな空間ですが、実に静かでのんびり出来るところです。お近くにお寄りの際は是非訪れてみてください。

How nice to see these beautifully bloomed Sakura again!  Every year, we long for the blossoms of the cherry trees in neighborhood, which really brighten up our heart.  It's been colder than usual in Tokyo, so we hope this year's Sakura will last longer.  Tomorrow, we will go to the auction.  There will be a heavy traffic because of the discount of ETC fare and of this perfect Hanami weekend, but we will be full of spirit to find great items!Please drop in on us on your way to Ohanami!! (Our store is open on April 4th, too.)

今年もキレイに咲きました　桜！

　 開です！

近所の桜開花を毎年楽しみにしています。　今年は気温が低いせいか例年よりも長く楽しめそうです。

今日は風も穏やか、絶好のお花見日和

明日は東京郊外へ仕入の日。ETC割引も始まり、お花見も重なり渋滞しそうですが、楽しい商品を求めてはりきっていってきま～す。

We are happy to introduce our two lamps, just finished making with the flower baskets. It took long time for us to make these lamps.  It began with finding the good shades to match the baskets.  Before, we used to design the shades and there was a nice craftsman to make the shades.  But now, we have to depend on the ready-made shades, and they are all imported ones.  The number of skilled craftsmen is declining  . . . we really hope the revival of Japan as the world famous producer of the quality goods.

完成しました・・・花籠ランプ。　シェード探しから始まって随分時間がかかりましたがようやく出来上がりました。今回入荷はわずか2個・・・・・・・。

今まではランプシェードの形から私がデザインして制作していたのですが、シェードをつくる職人さんがいなくなり、今ではシェード自体は輸入に頼っております。

しかし、いい仕事する職人さん、減少の一途です。これでいいのかモノづくりNIPPON!
