Finally, we could bring 'Nagamochi(trunk)' Sofa to the shop last week.  We selected the fabric of natural color to go with any colors of cushions, and orderd it to the specialist of the chairs and sofas whose clients are Cassina, Alfrex, Conran's Shop, or many  other famous interior companies.

It was difficult not just to imagine the result, but to tell our idea to the maker.  But fortunately, we are so satisfied with it. We would like to thank the people who helped us to make it. 

But there is one problem....I want to keep it for myself!!

何年も前からあたためていた企画が遂に完成！　

この企画を実行するために必要な状態の良い長持をなかなか見つけることが出来ず苦戦しました・・・。

しかし、当店のコンセプト「モダンとアンティークの融合」を具現化するのにピッタリ

長持の改造には若いけれども腕の良い家具職人が担当、そして座面部分の加工はカッシーナ、コンランショップ、アルフレックス等々の有名店ソファを手掛ける工房に依頼・・・。コストを惜しまず真面目に作り上げました。

もちろん出来栄え、座り心地は絶品

I got HUGE 'Nagamochi' box the other day to make a Sofa.  I've been looking for a very strong one, and finally I found this!!  We changed this Nagamochi into the sofa frame, and we ordered the cushions for it.  In old days, large nagamochi was only for wealthy families, and it was normally very studily made with fine metal works of the family crest, but it was too big to enjoy it.  We are very happy to find how to use it

We sold 2 Tansu/chests today.  Please look at the photo here.  She will display them in this way.  I admired her interesting way to stack them.  The color of the wood and iron is the same and the balance is very nice.  Her other interior items are contemporary, but she would enjoy Japanese antique to go with them. 

I can't wait for the delivery day to see her place!!

本日、嫁ぎ先が決まった箪笥二棹。一見、サイズも形も違う箪笥ですが、良く見ると金具のデザインがソックリ

購入した方は画像のように重ねて使うそうです。う～ん・・・。良いアイデア

Although my job is Japanese antique dealer, I like chairs   As you know Japanese life style is based on sitting on the floor generally. ..It is very diffucult to find VERY Japanese chair.  I'm so happy to introduce the chairs with much of Japanese taste.  I don't know where they are from , but I'm sure they are custom-made because of the 'Kamon' (family crest).  You will see 'Makie' picture of ’Sakura' cherry blossoms and ’Hagi' bush clover and it means they can be used any time of the year

The shape is just like real butterfly, so we call it butterfly chair!!  They look very hard to sit, but it's very comfortable.

和骨董屋でありながら、なぜか椅子が好きです。　楽しそうな椅子があるとすぐに座ってみてしまいます。今日はこれぞ日本の美！と言えそうな珍しい椅子のご紹介！！

黒漆に桜と萩の蒔絵に家紋入り。竹で編んである部分がとても繊細で、椅子というより美術品とに近い感じ。そして、この形、蝶々のよう・・・。これぞ本当の（？！）バタフライチェア！　

座り心地も悪くありません。良かったら、おためしあれ

Last week, we had a customer who hasn't been to our shop for 20 years.  Upon her request, we worked on restoring an All Kiri Tansu today, under the clear sky. It was nice to work outside, because we could talk with many people who were passing by and they were all curious about what we were doing.  Antique shop in general, may be seen as uncomfortable place to enter.  We know you need a courage to enter our shop for the first time.  So we realized that it is a very nice thing and a big pleasure for us to have some talks about our items, and about what we are doiing, with many people. 

先日、20年ぶりにご来店されたお客様からご依頼された総桐箪笥のレストアをお店の前で朝からせっせと行いました。

天気が良いのでご来店される方も多く、また、道行く人々が箪笥のお掃除に興味津々

いろいろ質問を浴びせてきます　 中には道を尋ねるだけの方もしましたが・・・・

質問にお答えしながら作業をしていると　なんだか店頭実演販売のようになってしまいました

骨董屋さんというのはとかく入りにくいイメージがあるようなのでこんなコトもたまには良いかも・・・・

作業に熱中するあまり、周りがみえなくなり気がつくと数人立ち止り覗き込んでいた　なんてこともありましたけど　

この箪笥、来週には仕上がりますので世田谷のOさん　もうしばらくお待ちください
