I got a phone call when I was working in the shop.  " Hello, I am in front of your show-window at the Hotel Okura.  I'd like to buy something here.  Could you please come here in 10 minutes?"  . . . Hmmm, in 10 minutes is too tight, but let's try. . . " Ok, may I have your name?"  "My name is Ma."  . . . . .Well, it's the name unfamiliar to us, but the way this gentleman talks is very soft and polite. . . Then, we arrived at our show-window. . . " M, Mister Ma!!!"  There, a gentleman with a familiar, heavenly smile, waiting for us.  It was the world famous Mr. Yoyo Ma!!!  My jaw dropped in surprise, my heart almost popping out from it.  Now I remember, that Mr. Yoyo Ma had visited our shop two years ago when I was out for the auction.  Our assistant E was so overwhelmed by his graceful, yet friendly bearing.  She has never met a person who has such an awesome warmth, etc,etc.   Mr. Ma told me that he has checked our show-window every time he comes to Tokyo since two years ago.  I could talk with him about Japanese Antiques and about our shop, for a short while.  Mr. Ma picked some items from our show-window, and would like us to ship them to his home.  " Oh, yes, yes, p, please write down your address." . . . . jeee, , I forgot to bring a piece of paper, , , oh, dear, here is my daughter's colouring sheet, , , well. it's still a paper. . .  Mr. Ma, who was very patient, kindly wrote down his address on my daughter's shabby piece of colouring sheet. I regret that I would have brought a high quality paperboard for display if I knew I was to see Mr. Yoyo Ma.  I send my best gratitude to Mr. Ma, who lighted up the spirit of all of us in our shop.

今日お店でせっせと商品チェックをしていると、一本の電話が入りました。今、ホテルオークラのショーケースの前にいて、ディスプレイされた商品が欲しいからすぐ来て欲しい・・・とのこと。　すぐ・・・ですね。　う～～ん何分かかるかな？？支度もあるので２０分くらい？？・・・と考えていたら、１０分で来てほしいというお言葉が・・・（汗）、お声を聞くと、とても丁寧で品の良い紳士を想像することが出来ました。　とにかくジェントルなのです。

「お名前を聞かせてください」

「マ、です」

「了解しました、すぐ行きます。」

マ様って・・・。変った名前だ。

そして車を走らせてショーケースの前に行きビックリ！！素敵な笑顔を見て、初めはなんだか懐かしい知り合いに会ったような気分でしたが、よく見ると知り合いどころか、世の中の人ほぼ全員知っている　ヨーヨー・マ様ではありませんか？！　２年ほど前にも一度ご来店いただきました。でもその時は丁度仕入れで私はお会いすることが出来なかったのです。　お店を手伝ってくれているEikoさんが彼の素晴らしさを延々と語ってくれましたっけ。　あれ以来、来日されるたびにショーケースを見て楽しんでいて下さっていたのだそう。日本の骨董がお好きなのですね。短時間でしたが、骨董、お店のことについて楽しくお話しさせていただきました。

中身の商品をいくつかピックアップしてくださり、ご自宅へ送ってくださいとのこと。　ところが、慌てて出てきたのでメモ用紙が見当たらない・・・　ガサゴソとバッグの中を物色していたら、あった紙切れが　娘のぬり絵用紙　必死にぬり絵部分が分からないように白紙の部分を差し出してご住所を書いていただきました。知っていたら色紙でも用意したのにぃ・・・　

バタバタと落ち着きのない私に対して、終始、優しい笑顔で接していただき本当にありがとうございました。　

This is a beautiful  park which is located just 15 minutes drive from our home.  We can view Tokyo Tower, the Rainbow Bridge, and other popular Tokyo tour destinations.    We had BBQ with our family friends there today.  We all enjoyed a great weather and rich view.

先日、友人達とBBQを楽しんできました。自宅からクルマで15分程度ですが、ご覧のようにキレイに整備された広い公園。レインボーブリッジ、東京タワー。　人気のスポットが良く見えます。

天気が良く、風も穏やか。　絶好のBBQ日和　

とてもリラックスした休日でした。

We changed our display today.  As the weather was perefct, we had so many customers. We feel so happy when our customers make their lucky finds.

今日は朝からはりきって店内ディスプレー変更を実施

The teperature marked the coldest of the season in this morning.  So we expected the blaze of autumn leaves on our way to the auction held in the Tokyo suburbs.    As you can see, there were no red leaves, but it was OK, since we had a gorgeous sunshine and fresh breeze instead.   Mt. Fuji was beautiful with a dash of white snow. . .

Today, we got ----------  Very Sturdy Kyoto Ikken Kitchen Cabinet ( 181cm width cabinet,)  Elegant Lacquered Hibachi from Kyoto,  Imari Polychrome Bowls (set of three,)  Plate Stands (for displaying plates,)   Black Lacquered Merchant Chest with the Black Iron Work,  A Pair of Small Chest of Many Drawers, and etc.  Please find good and useful things!!!

今朝は一番の冷え込みでしたが、快晴でとても気持ちが良い一日でした。　

郊外まではりきって仕入れに

いつもなら道すがら紅葉見物となるのですが、今年は少し遅れているようです。　ご覧のように木々の色づきはほとんどなし。

しかし、一面、雲ひとつない快晴　　

とりあえずネタにしようとパチリ

本当は富士山がキレイだったので撮影をしたのですが、クルマの中からシャッターを押したので思いっきりピンボケ　　とほほ・・・・・・・・・。

うっすら雪化粧の富士山は別の機会にいたします。

本日の収穫

一間の京水屋箪笥（ガッシリしたフレームで状態抜群　）　塗火鉢（京都の上品なお品どす～）

伊万里色絵三つ組鉢（小さめで使いやすそう）　皿立て（コレクションを飾るのに必須アイテム）　二段重ね帳場箪笥（本体は黒漆仕上げ、金具も黒、男前でカッコいい　仕上げ後が楽しみ）　抽斗沢山の小箪笥（ペアの箪笥です。ベッドサイドに良いかも・・・・）

Today, we could have a beautiful autumn day after abnormal weather this year

In Japanese, there is the word 'Aki no Yonaga' (long autumn evening). This expression includes the positive feeling to enjoy the moon light and the quiet time in autumn

We prepared many Andon Paper Lamps for this season. While the typhoon last week, we cleaned them and put Washi paper ! They are also listed on our website, too.

Please visit our shop tomorrow. It will be sunny and nice to walk outside

Okura Oriental Art is open on national holidays if they are on Tuesday ~ Saturday.

異常気象が続いていましたが、今日は素晴らしい秋晴れとなりました

秋の夜長にはあかり。肌寒くなるとやはり温かい灯が恋しくなるものです

台風が来た先週から、せっせと磨いたり、和紙を貼ったりしてようやく出来上がりました

細なが～い行灯や、遠州行灯。　そして　古伊万里染付ランプ、伊万里色絵ランプもお店にディスプレイ

新商品満載で、11月3日文化の日は通常通り営業いたします。
