We thank many customers who came to the ASIAN HOME & FURNISHING SALE at TAC!!!   Also we express our deep gratitude to Mrs. G. She came to see us all the way from OKINAWA despite the delay by the heavy fog.  We were so happy to have been aqcainted with new customers.  Many people showed their interest in KIRIM, which kept the stuff busy.  It was nice to be able to show how the KIRIMs go well with Japanese Antiques.

We will be always on the move finding great Japanese antiques for our customers.  We will introduce these items shortly---- Small Kiri (paulownia) Kannon ( double doors opening outward) Tansu, Keyaki(zelkova) Kitchen Cabinet, Folding Screen with the Picture of Flower and Birds, Scary Wooden Daruma, and more!!!

昨日、東京アメリカンクラブにて開催されたASIAN HOME & FURNISHINGS  SALEが無事終了しました。

多くのお客様にお越しいただき感謝しております。特に羽田空港の霧にもめげず、遠路はるばるご来場いただいたGさん、本当にありがとうございました。

We've been renting the showcase at Hotel Okura, which is so small that we wondered if it would be found by many customers.  But now, we have many inquiries from the hotel guests.  Today we changed the display.  Please find our showcase when you go there.  It is at the shopping arcade on the B1 floor, South Wing.

本日、全て商品の入れ替えをいたしました。

別館ショッピングアーケードに位置するのですが、小さくて通り過ぎてしまうと思いきや、

The construction of the new building of Tokyo American Club in Azabudai is progressing as you can see it in this picture.  I looked it up from the small park at the foot of it.  The building seems to  become a huge one.  Until the cpmpletion, the club will use the Takanawa site.  Please come see us on the 25th.

Mr. I, a dealer I always meet at the auction, gave me a pot of small roses recently.  I wondered if I would see blooming roses in such a small pot... I  put the pot into small Soba cup and looked it everyday.

But today, I could see the orange roses in bloom! 

Thank you, Mr.I!!  It was a moment I felt happiness.

知り合いに頂いたミニ薔薇一株・・・。こんなに小さい株で果たして咲くのだろうか？？と思いながら、小さな古伊万里の蕎麦猪口に入れて、毎日眺めていました。　凍えるような陽気ですが、お店が暖かかったのか、2輪開花！

ちょっとした幸せを感じた瞬間でした

It's time for Ume Blossoms!!  It's a fine day, and I went for a short walk around neighborhood.  These pictures are the shots of pink and white Ume(plum tree), blooming in the ravine of Mamiana-cho.  There is a Japanse poem, "When Ume falls, it's time for Cherry blossoms."  I'm yearning for the warmth of springtime, , , ,

昨日の雨も上がり、天気が良くなったので恒例のお散歩へ・・・・・。

狸穴の窪地部分に紅白の梅の木がありちょうど見頃　

早く暖かくならないかな・・・・。　

We have gotten a very nicely preserved pair of Paper Hina Dolls.  The origin of Hina Dolls is thought to be a piece of paper cut into a humanlike shape, and it was worshipped by townspeople as sacred deity. Hina dolls began to be made by folding papers in Heian period.  HIstory of Hina dolls is closely linked with the history of Origami.  (For your more learning: http://www.yoshinoantiques.com/Hist-0rigami.html )  This pair is made in Edo period.  It is incredibly well preserved, so we decided to frame it.  Please enjoy the couple's elegant faces and simple, but beautiful costumes. The appearance of Hina Dolls has evolved in a long history according to the situation of the time, it has surely  become more and more gorgeous, , , until very recently.  I think it just began to be simplified again, , , according to this worldwide recession!?  I am happy to be able to introduce you this pair as one of the 'back to the origin' dolls.  Please let us know if you need more information.

とても珍しく状態が良い雛人形を入手したので、思い切って額装してみました。

江戸時代の紙雛、お顔が上品　　男雛は両手を広げた小袖袴、女雛は円筒形の簡略な作り。　ひな祭りの起源は平安時代といわれています。時代と共に少しずつ変化し、豪華絢爛○○段飾り　

といった時代もありましたが、最近は少し簡略化されているよう・・・・。

原点回帰のようなこの紙雛。

We will bring great items for the better interior and table coordinates.-- Imari Porcelains, Kutani, Lamps, Table Runners, Step Tansu, Kitchen Cabinet, Merchant's Cabinet, Hibachi, and many Kokeshi.  As we announced already, we would like to introduce the wonderful rugs and items made of KIRIM, produced by ROGOBA. 

Our shop in Azabudai will be closed on February 24th and 25th.

This is the report of New Range Rover ---- We tried free trial drive offered in front of our hotel in Karuizawa.  We heard that this one in the photo is the only one car in Japan.  ALL the inside , up to the ceiling, is covered with leather, all the meters look very much computerized, but the clock is an analog display. This type is very expensive: it's over ￥15,000,000. !!  Anyway, there was no problem at all with the drive in snow, it picked up the speed with just a little step on the accelerator. ---- It was, actually, scary. ----- When we went back to the hotel safely, we found an old Range Rover at the entrance.  I thougt I would prefer the old type.  I think anything doesn't have to be the newest, especially in such a pleasant town like Karuizawa.

ホテルの正面玄関にカッコいいRANGE ROVERが数台。　試乗させてくれるとのことなので早速お願いすることに・・・・。

なんとこのクルマ、日本に一台しかないそうです。

いいのかな？私が運転しても・・・。と思いつつ、折角なので

内装はさすがRANGE　ROVER　天井まで総革張り　

スピードメーターの回りはパソコンの表示の様・・・・。　なんだか家電品のようですこしガッカリ・・・・・・。

対照的に時計はアナログ表記・・・・。　同乗した担当者曰く、「最近のクルマは時計メーカーとのコラボが多いんです」　ふ～ん　そうなんだ・・・・。

当然、軽井沢程度の積雪などものともせず、静かに走りだしました。広い道でちょっとアクセルを踏んだらトンデモなく加速します。「あ～怖い」

このクルマ　お値段１５００万円超

軽井沢の街をひと回りし、無事ホテルに戻りました。

すると、正面玄関に古～いRANGE　ROVERが。

私、古い方が好き・・・・。

軽井沢の街並みにもチカラの抜けた、古いクルマの方が良く似合っているんじゃないかな・・・。

We enjoyed skiing in Karuizawa.  It was a fun trip with our family friends.  It had been ten years since the last time I skied.  So I was so scared for the decline of my strength, I was not sure if I could ski very well again. . .  Fearfully, I started, and at once I was very happy to realize "what youth is used to, age remembers."   We were fortunate to have a sunny, nice weather.   Since we remained until Monday, we could avoid the jammed ski slopes.   Finally, I would like to share the cute cute photo of my friend's one-year-old daughter with the snowman

週末、友人家族と連れだって軽井沢でスキーを楽しんできました。　実に10数年ぶり・・・・。

恐る恐る滑り出してみましたが、身体はちゃんと覚えているものです。

雨女の私でも、軽井沢だけは相性が良くこの日も快晴　

日曜日は混雑しますが、月曜日になればガラガラ。　リフト待ちも無し

友人の一歳の女の子に雪だるまを作ってあげました。初めての雪景色＆滑稽な雪だるまに彼女もやや興奮ぎみ　　　　　

俄然やる気が出たので来週もスキーへ行こう・・・・かな
