梅雨明けしたはずなのに何やら今年の夏は変ですね・・・・・。

先日、海へ遊びにいったのですが、みるみる天気があやしくなってきてこんな暗雲が立ち込めてきました。早々に切り上げ家へ戻ったのですがその後、ドシャ降り

夏らしい夏は期待できないかも・・・・　残念

Have you seen the 'Total Eclipse of the Sun,' yesterday?  I was in the car, heading to Setagaya. It was so peculiar that everybody on the street looked up the sky.  I was wondering how I could look at the sun, , , but THERE!!  I found the reflection of the eclipsed  Sun on the rear window of the car before us.  No matter how, I was fortunate to witness the Eclipse.

Soon we arrived at today's destination, an excellent Boulangerie.  Then I totally forgot about the Sun and went for the breads there ( I will tell you about this boulangerie another time.)   I know I'm not  ", , ,the song of the birds" kind.

昨日の皆既日食、皆さんご覧になりました？クルマで世田谷方面に走っていたのですが、通行人の方々、皆さん上を向いていてなんか不思議な光景

直接太陽を見ることはご法度です。　なにか方法はないかな？？　と思っていたら前を走るクルマのリアガラスに映っているではないですか

それもハッキリと・・・・。　間接的ではありますが、堪能させていただきました。

その後、お目当てのパン屋さんに到着し、すっかり皆既日食のことは忘れ、美味しいパンに舌鼓　（このパン屋さんについてはまた次の機会に・・・）

やはり、私は、花よりダンゴ　の部類でした。

Wow!  What a pretty stone Toro!  We found it in the garden of our friend's vacation house in Karuizawa.  This is a modest size, not big, but not too small . . . covered with a little bit of moss . . . perfect!!  We, too, got some lanterns and Toro.  Please check our web-site!!

The rainy season ended today!! Since it was so hot outside, we went to Thai food restaurant in Kichijoji and enjoyed hot and spicy taste. We sit at the terrace and enjoyed a glass of Beer  I really love this moment...thanks god!

I feel a kind of nostalgia when I eat Thai food....my ancestors might have been from somewhere in South-East Asia...    

Kichijoji is very attractive city for young people. There are many interesting shops and restaurants. It is worth trying to explore some interesting places!

梅雨明けしました　　これから毎日暑い日が続きますね。

そんな季節に食べたくなるのがタイ料理　　

先日、吉祥寺まで足をのばし、ランチをいただいてきました。　若者の街、吉祥寺ですが、裏通りには何やら楽しそうなお店が沢山あります。

この店もその一つ。　今日も混雑していましたが、せっかく来たのでしばし待つことに・・・・・。

天気が良かったのでテラス席に案内してもらい、ビールまで飲んじゃいました

スープは薄味なので、自分の好みで味を調整するのがタイ流　なぜか懐かしく感じるこの味 ・・・・。

前世はこの地域の生まれだったかな

Bamboo Ikebana basket is one of the popular items at our shop. They are sometimes sold before being listed on our website.

I love arrange flowers on the basket, because it will be more attractive with them. Bamboo is always nice with any flowers, of course.

I often go to the flower shop in Nishiazabu, because of their quality and the reasonable price. The kind of the flowers are limited, but it is fun to think what flowers we can buy. There is the parking area in front of the shop, and we don't have to worried about the green men.

Today, we arranged summer flowers at the shop

竹花籠は当店の人気商品。　ウェブサイトに掲載する前に売れてしまったりします。　

花を活けてあげればさらにその魅力は倍増　することは言うまでもありません。

そこで良くお花を買いにいくのがこのお店。

西麻布の小さなお店です。お店の前がコインパーキングになっているので、安心してゆっくりお花を選べるのも助かります。

その時々、何があるか分からないのも楽しみ

今回は夏らしくこんな感じにしてみました。

While we were spending quiet time at the shop, one of my best friends who moved to Hong Kong suddenly visited us. He is a very naughty boy, because he didn't contact us for several months!

He and his wife love Japan, and try to do everything Japanese. When we went to Soba noodles restaurant, they ordered Tororo(Japanese yam-normally, foreign people don't eat it!)-Soba, Tamagoyaki(omelet).  But we found they can't make noise , zzzzz, when they eat Soba. They are too good-mannered to do  like real Japanese  How sweet they are!!

We did pottery together and the work in the photo was her work. I believe she will be back to Japan. I will keep it here until the next time we will see you

ここ数日、静かな麻布台です。　皆さん夏休みのようで来店される方もまばら・・・・。

昨日も、2時過ぎまで来店者なし！　事務仕事をせっせとこなしていたら香港へ引っ越してしまった親友が突然来店　東京に住んでいる時はいつも差し入れを持って夫婦で遊びに来てくれていました。（浪花屋のタイ焼きとか・・）

この二人、日本が大好きで、私たち以上に日本の文化に詳しい　

骨董市や日本の名所、旧跡を足繁く通い、食べ物も何でもOK　納豆、とろろ、刺身等、

「えっ！それ、食べられるの？」　と思うものまで・・・・。

日本人でも知らないような穴場の料理屋さんまで紹介してもらったことさえあります。　

彼女とは陶芸教室にも一緒に通っていました。　これは彼女の作品のひとつ。　

今は仕事の都合で香港へいってしまったけど、必ず日本に戻ってくると信じています。

その時まで作品は預かっておきますね。

The long vacation system in other countries is the most envious thing for the Japanese people.  It has become quiet around here as usual. . . Yes, because most of our customers are from foreign countries, they are in vacation since the last month.  We don't have many visitors in this season, until around the middle of August.

So our shop will be closed -- from July 26th to August 17th.   ★We can take your orders through the internet during this period .

However, we will stay here to finish up works that we couldn't take care on the normal business days.  Also, we will take photographs for the 'interior decorating' page on our web-site.  It will take place at a big house, owned by a certain special person(!?)  The house is too big that it will be quite a challenge for us to fill the space and to arrange the rooms.  Anyway, we enjoy planning this photography.  Please keep checking our Home Page!! 

毎年恒例なんですが、　皆さん長~い夏休み期間に突入するためお店に訪れるお客様がめっきり少ないこの時期・・・・・。　なんだか静かな今日この頃。

日本人からすると何ともうらやましい限りです。　子供達の学校がお休みになるやいなや早々に自国へお帰りになってしまいます。　そして8月中旬には一斉に戻ってくるのですが、

その間、当店はしばしお店をお休みにいたします。

今年の休業期間は7月26日～8月17日までとなります。

とはいっても　「さぁ！バケーションだ～」　というわけにはいかず、普段出来ないアレやコレを一つずつこなしていきます。

今年は、某邸宅にてインテリアデコレーションの撮影をしようと思っています。あまりに広くて、運び込むだけで大変そう・・・・。　日々そのための準備をやっています。

完成したらHPでご紹介しますのでお楽しみに～

OKURA ORIENTAL ART

The reason why we carry many Otafuku items is because I've been influenced by a lady whom I deeply admire.  Her name is Mrs. Amy Katoh.  She is the owner of the Japanese blue and white goods shop, "Blue and White," in Azabujuban. She has run the business for over thirty years, like us.  Her knowledge about  the Japanese traditional arts is quite exceptional, and she is also the author of the book, "Otafuku."  When she finds our Otafuku goods in our show-window, she would stop by and say, "Oh, nice!"  Then she makes me so happy with her smile, always graceful and encouraging for me.  She used to visit our shop often when I was a 'greenhorn.'  She would tell me, "you're a drudge!"  Then she gave me that charming smile, and drove away with the beautiful classic black convertible Mercedes!  The car looked really nice with her!!  . . . . Someday, I hope to become a lady like her who can always brighten you up.

お店にお多福の商品が多いのは、私の憧れの女性の影響。

その方のお名前はエイミー加藤さん。

ショーウィンドウにお多福の古いお面などを飾っておくと、わざわざクルマを止めてご来店され

ニコニコと微笑みながら　「まぁ！　いいわね～」　としばしながめてくださいます。

「Otafuku」という本まで書いているほど見識が深い方。

麻布十番にBlue & Whiteという和小物のお店を経営なさっていて、大蔵オリエンタルアートと同じく、30年以上も続けていらっしゃいます。　私もお散歩がてら顔を出しています。

お会いするとなぜかとってもHappyな気分になれます。

私が駆け出しの頃からよくお店へお立ち寄りいただいていて、あくせくと仕事に追われる私を見ては「本当によく働くわね～」と感心してくださったことを覚えています。

「また来るわね。」　と黒いクラシックメルセデスのオープンカーで颯爽とご自分のお店に戻って行きます。　これがまたよくお似合いなんです。

いつか・・・彼女の様にお会いしただけでホッと和む・・・、そんな女性になりたいと思うのでした。

毎日楽しく拝見している某サイト。　その掲示板に「六本木屋上屋台参加者募集」　という実に怪しいお誘いの書き込みが・・・・

う～ん！　怪しい・・・。　だけど何か楽しそうな気配が・・・・。

と、いうわけでお散歩がてら昨日いってきました。雑居ビルの階段を上がると普通の玄関。

迷っていると屋上から「ここで～す！」　と若者が手招きをしています。

案内されるまま急な階段を屋上までいくと、本当に集まっています。　代表の若者に簡単な趣旨説明を受け、参加者の方々とビール片手にしばし談笑。

ビルの屋上、夜風が心地よく、チカラの抜けた楽しい集まりでした。

たまには世代の違い、利害関係なしの人間関係も必要だと感じたひと時でした。

また、参加させてください。Nさん、是非お店にも遊びにきてくださいね。
