Candy Sculpture / 縁日の飴細工といえば・・・。
When I was a child, I loved to go to the festival of the local shrine. I'd rather preferred to look around the vendors' stalls there, than to watch the people who carried the Mikoshi(miniature shrine) with the rythmic shout. In the Japanese local festivals, we can find the very special and interesting wagons and stalls which we can see only at the festivals. I visited a local festival the other day after a long long while. The stall of the candy sculpture used to be my favorite destination. It was like a miracle to find artistically made cranes, tortoise, dogs, and all the animals or charactors which could be the motifs of the Imari drawing. . . . . but, you know, I was so shocked to find all those horrible (sorry!) animation charactors there.

私はお囃子や神輿より、もっぱら縁日屋台を見て回るほうが好き
大人になってからしばらく行っていませんでしたが、随分と様子が変わっていたのでビックリしました。
飴細工の職人さんが小さなハサミを巧みに動かしながら、魔法のように作り出すものは、鶴や亀、犬、猫、など、言うなれば伊万里の絵柄になるようなものだと思っていました。
しかし、時代は変わるものです。
そこにあるのは、キティちゃん
、ピカチュー、
アンパンマン
あまりの衝撃にカメラを持つ手が震えました・・・・。
